Heather Wanamaker’s classical realism oil paintings capture the beauty and emotion of land and seascapes, florals, still lifes, and people and places she wants to remember and share. She paints in her South Carolina studio where she finally has the time to pursue her lifelong interest in art. Her subjects are drawn from years of collected memories of her time raising a family and working in New York, spending summers by the New England coast, retiring in the Lowcountry, and traveling around the world. When she paints and starts to see her vision form on canvas, the excitement builds, and then when viewers linger with pleasure over the finished piece, she feels her artwork has achieved its goal. Her artistic passion was first sparked as a teenager, and although she didn’t have the opportunity to study art until later in life, that spark never dimmed. She has since studied at the Stevenson Academy of Fine Arts and the Art League of Long Island in New York before retiring and moving to South Carolina. She continues her studies at the Hilton Head Art League and frequently joins artist workshops. She shared a two-artist, month-long gallery show at the Hilton Head Art League and her paintings have received awards and recognition at regional and national juried shows. |
